Back for his second stint at MSCC, Andy Stoglin returns to the Greyhounds in a new role as Coach Emeritus. A highly successful 40-year coaching veteran with an unwavering love for sports and young people, Stoglin coached professionally in Mexico last season after serving MSCC as its first Head Men’s Basketball Coach in 2010-11.
From 1989 to 2003, he led Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, to six conference championships and four appearances in post-season tournaments while earning Coach of the Year honors three times. He has also excelled on the professional level, coaching in the NBA Development League, American Basketball Association, World Basketball League, and overseas in the Middle East, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Stoglin led the UV Xalapa team to an 87-9 record and two national titles in Mexico’s top professional league where he returned for the 2011-12 season.
“I have reached the point in my career where I want to give back and do something to help kids,” Stoglin said. “My goal for MSCC is to help make a difference in the lives of young men and women in our region, and I look forward to continue helping with that.” Stoglin assists both the men’s and women’s teams as well as helping the college in various capacities.
